The Program
Gig Harbor Adventure Boot Camp Details
What is it?
A four-week outdoor program of fitness instruction, nutritional coaching & motivational
training provided by Ellen Earl.
What types of exercises are
included in the program?
Exercises include: core conditioning, functional training, short distance running
(less than one mile), muscular strength, jumping rope, circuit training, hiking,
obstacle courses, yoga, Pilates mat exercises, surprises and more! This technique
was developed by fitness expert John Spencer Ellis.
What kinds of people go to camp?
They are people just like you. Someone who needs a little push to jump-start
her fitness and wellness program. Some exercise experience is recommended
to ensure your safety and a better flow of class.
What if I'm not very physically fit?
NOBODY will be left behind or asked to complete more than they are capable
of doing safely. Nor will anybody go home unchallenged! Women of all ages
and abilities are welcome to participate. Each day will slightly increase
in intensity. You will inspire and be inspired by others.
Will I be sore sometimes?
Most people feel some soreness for the first 2-3 days. After that point, it
is slight to moderate. It's part of the process that lets you know you are
improving!
What can I expect from camp?
Your body will become more fit and toned, and you will gain more confidence,
more energy, and greater self-esteem!
Why should I participate?
You will make a dramatic improvement in your physical and mental well being.
In addition, you'll meet great people who share your same passion for achieving
a more healthy body and mind. You will be finished with your training before
the rest of the world has even gotten started! And, you'll be several hundred
calories ahead of everyone else!
What is a typical day like at camp?
That's difficult to say since each day is intentionally different to alleviate
boredom. You can expect some light running, weight training, obstacle courses,
core training, agility training, jumping rope, yoga and Pilates each week.
On special days, you will go hiking. It's always an adventure, and you'll
always have fun! We teach you a great deal about proper form and "core
stability." You will enjoy a unique fitness experience.
How soon will I see results?
Performance improvement can take place in as little as three days. "Visual
Improvement" can take from two to four weeks depending on your effort level.
It's becoming common to see a camper go down 1-2 dress sizes within the first
camp. Remember everyone is different! Adventure Boot Camp is not a competition,
so focus on your individual goals and results.
Where are the locations for the women's
camps?
Camps are held outdoors in Gig Harbor, except during the winter months where we'll utilize indoor facilities. On select days, campers may travel a short
distance away from the "base camp" for a fun one-hour hike. We'll let you know the specifics on locations after you sign up.
How often will we meet?
Participants will meet every Monday through Friday for one hour during the
four-week program. All participants must arrive on time.
What time do we meet?
Camp starts promptly at 5:30 a.m. and ends at 6:30 a.m.
When does the next camp start?
See our annual calendar.
What do I need to bring to camp?
Bring your sense of adventure! You will also need to bring one set of 5 - 8
lb. hand weights and an exercise mat. We recommend sturdy foam mats that
are 1/2 to 1 inch thick. We do not recommend yoga mats. You will also want
to bring water to keep yourself hydrated during camp. Optional items are
a towel to dry off with and gloves and a hat in the winter. Dress in a layered
fashion...even if it is chilly, you will get warm very fast!
What is the cost (what is the investment
in myself)?
Each four-week boot camp has a registration fee of $299 for 20 hours of instruction!
That's just $14.95 per hour. Where else can you get premiere cutting edge fitness
instruction for that incredible price?
Other Options:
You can also choose to come 3 days per week for a registration fee of $199.
Note: Even greater results occur when you enroll in the full 5-day per week program. We know this from years of experience!
How do I sign up?
We are now accepting pre-registration for the next camp. Go to the registration
page to print and fill out the registration form. After filling out the registration
form, please follow the payment instructions. To ensure you get in the camp
you want to attend please send your registration form in promptly. Remember,
register early to save your place!
What is the Pre-Camp Evaluation?
Once your registration information has been received you will be notified to
make an appointment for your pre-camp evaluation. The Pre-Camp Evaluation
includes the following:
- We will give you an introduction to Adventure Boot Camp and answer any questions you may have. We will also review your medical history.
- We will take a few simple measurements to see where you are prior to beginning camp. The actual measurements (number of inches) don't matter. We want you to know how much you improve during the camp. It's strictly for a post-camp comparison. These numbers and all other information will be held in the strictest confidence.
- We will record your weight and measure your body fat percentage. Again, the numbers don't matter. We just want to you to be able to measure your improvement. Don't be surprised if you see a 3-8% reduction in your body fat over the four weeks! This is common.
- You will receive your Welcome Packet.
- See you at camp!
What if I sign up for the three-day plan and then
decide that I want to change to the five-day plan?
After starting camp, many women realize how fun and convenient it is so they
request to sign up for more days. In addition, they realize that the more days
they attend camp the greater the results. In these situations, you will simply
be pro-rated from the point you decide to join us for more days.
Is there a refund policy?
If you are unable to attend camp due to circumstances out of your control,
we can offer you a refund if you notify us prior to your session start date.
However, we will charge a $50.00 cancellation fee. If we are notified after
your session begins, we can only give you a credit towards another boot camp.
This credit is nontransferable. There is no cash refund. This is not negotiable.
Is there a diet program included?
At the beginning of each camp, there will be a free seminar to all those who
wish to attend. It is generally the first Monday night of camp and will be
held at the Rosedale Community Hall. If you are looking for something online
and intuitive, please consider DietGuru.com.
It is only $9.95 per month.
Are there shower facilities or a place I
can get ready for work?
At this time, there are no shower facilities available.
What will I do after camp is over?
You will be re-measured and tested to show your progress and success in the
program. Many (up to 80%) of the campers return for a second and even third
camp.
